PhilosophyWe are competitive, but not too competitive. Players are always challenged to improve their skills. Playing time might not be the same for everyone, but we try to keep it balanced.
Team BioCoach Janine Simioni began swimming at age 7 for the Santa Barbara YMCA and continued her competitive career with the SBCATS where she held the most age group team records and senior records. She became the first Age Group Swimmers in Southern California to hold the most records and hold the number #1 slot for age group swimmers 5 years in a row. Coach Janine also held all the High School team records in every event for 3 years in a row. She went on to train for the 1980 time trials at the age of 15 as she excelled in the 50 and 100 Freestyle as well as the 200 IM. After all her training for the 1980 Olympics and then being boycotted that year, Coach Janine was offered NCAA and Divison I scholarships but decided she did'nt want to swim competitively but just for fun. So Coach Janine decided to continue her education by attending SBCC where she double majored in accounting and EMT schooling. She then decided she loved the medical field and went to Paramedic School where she excelled in critical care for patients. After being hired on with Mobile Life and going out on a call to the beach with a scuba diver call she decided to learn to scuba dive. It was then that Santa Barbara Sheriffs department asked her to join there scuba search and rescue team. Coach Janine has been Head Coach and director of the RMLS Seadogs Swim Club now MESA Swim Club for the past 12 years where she helped develop a successful competitive year round program while continuing to coach summer recreational and Pre-Competitive programs. She carries a Level 4 ASCA certification and has taught over 300 kids and adults to swim. Coach Janine enjoys teaching the swimmers each day and see the progress they make and see the smiles on their faces when they accomplish new things and can prefect their technique. Coach Janine retired from being an Air-vac Paramedic working out of a trauma level 1 and level 2 hospitals. She also retired from the Sheriffs scuba search and rescue team after 14 fun filled years. She and her husband Mark along with their two children, Cody 20 and Jennifer 26, have lived in Mesa for the past 15 years.
